getting out

Since easing of some restrictions, we are no longer asked to "stay local",
so yesterday we set out to find some wild bluebells, afraid that may be we missed the show. Their season is about now, or earlier if we get warm spring. But for most of April we had frosty most nights and it has been very, very dry, so everything is late.

We drove out to our old haunts, the Stourhead Estate,
which is managed by the National Trust.

There, in the middle of the forest is a place where one can't fail to see bluebells, but even here they are only just now coming through.

This is the edge of the Parkhill Camp.

In about a week, or 10 days time this area will be covered in a carpet of blue.

But there on the sunny banks of the "Camp" there are blue areas already,
some hidden among wild primroses.

They are such an iconic sight of English spring.

Despite feeling little cheated because we arrived too early to see the whole "show",
we enjoyed our walk in the woods, with so much fresh lime green all around,

and many wild flowers too.

It felt a very "normal" day.

And today is raining - at last!
Unusually - the rain is very welcome 😀

more of Barn Dance

I have been really enjoying this quilt.

This it the last large applique panel finished

The corners to join the 4 main applique panels are Ohio Star blocks with small applique in each,
which I think is really nice idea.

And the whole thing together, I am so pleased with the result!

Next came a simple pink border (no picture yet), but the final border will be made up of
6in blocks with a leaf applique. I will need 40 of these, so lots of work yet!

With lots more places opening up from today, things are looking up, lets hope this will last.
We both had our second Covid jab over the weekend, so that's job done.
All we need now is some warmer weather, we have the sunshine, but it is COLD.

I wish you all a good week crafting!

HAPPY EASTER !

Some relaxation of rules at last -
we can now meet with others outside.
We had a very nice lunch with our son and his wife in their garden yesterday,
and today we will be with our daughter's family in their garden. It will be great to be with grandchildren!
Luckily it is bright and sunny, although cold, but OK when dressed accordingly.

Little baking - Easter bread (mazanec in Czech) for the family.
