Hello and welcome to my blog. I hope you can stay a while, so make yourself a cuppa, put your feet up and browse through my blog pages. You can do this by either browsing up and down the pages as set out, or by subjects, listed under "my labels" in the left side bar.

cushion Olle

This was quite a quick project; the cushion, which you saw a start of in my last post, is finished,
and I am very pleased with the new addition to our sofa.
The twelve crochet buttons (although not perfect, as this is the first time I have made crochet buttons) add a nice embellishment.

The pattern is by Stephanie Haytink and you can find it on Ravelry .

The wonderful weather of last week has gone,
and now we have what the weather men call "typical April weather",
much cooler with showers, and worse is apparently on the way 😞; the heating is back on...
But the nature won't be stopped and our little garden is marching on...

I am specially pleased about this new addition to our garden.
You might remember that last autumn we had to take down the quince tree, because it was just growing too large for our garden. I was really sorry to see it go; I love the fresh velvety leaves and delicate spring flowers; and the fruit, of course.
But I have found out that you can get a dwarf variety which can be grown in a pot,
so a couple of month ago we managed to get one.
And here it is, very happy, with quite a few flower buds!

HAPPY EASTER!

It is a glorious weekend here in UK, lots and lots of sunshine.

Our crab apple tree is in full swing.

Little Easter baking - traditional Czech Easter bread (a sort of giant hot cross bun).
As every year, I have made three, one for us and two for our children.

An old "friend" is covering the garden table.

It is very much "stitching in the garden" weather,
and I have just the right project for it,
a crochet cushion cover I started this week.

Enjoy your weekend!

spring blanket

Another crochet blanket finished;
I am calling it "Spring Blanket" because of the colours and because I made it in the spring 😁
I made this one up as I went along; initially I was just playing with small 3in squares (which in the end became the central panel), and it went on from there.

The main yarn I used here was Stylecraft Life & Stylecraft Batik DK, which both contain some element of wool; the rest came from leftovers
from previous projects.
I haven't blocked it out, because it is just too large to do that and I actually like the more bulky feel of it, but I will give it a wash shortly to even out the stitches.
The blanket felt warm and comfortable on my lap when I was finishing the borders, and I can see myself using it a lot.

But what happened to spring? It is a cold and wet day in my part of the world today;
a good time to go and do some crafting!

angels at FNwF

How the time flies; another month and another virtual get together at Cheryll's, big thank you to Cheryll for letting us use her blog as a meeting place yet again.

I will do the rounds later to have a look at what everyone else was up to.

The first thing I did was to finish a border on my yellow and grey crochet blanket.

I will show you the whole blanket in the next post.

The rest of the evening I spent sewing on two of the three angels needed for the next block of my "Awakening" quilt.
I prepared the shapes earlier in the day, so I could just relax and sew.

 Enjoy your weekend!
