Scandinavian Rose, Luna's new jackets, and hot weather, again

I just can't believe that is has been nearly 4 years since I finished all the stitcheries for the Scandinavian Rose quilt! I put them away in the box and that it is where they have been all this time. I think that at the time I wasn't quite sure about the final finish, I did not want to go with the original pattern; sadly, they got forgotten.

Last weekend, when the weather changed and it rained the whole weekend, I found my sewing room again, and moving some boxes around, I came across the stitcheries. 

It is time to do something about it!

I am more inspired now; instead of using just red and white patchwork for the borders, I decided to throw some blue into it.

I already have some white fabric for the backing in my stash, 

so all I need now is some wadding and I can start quilting it!

Do you remember my little friend Luna Lapin? I made her about 18 months ago, and since then she has lived in the one dress I made her at the time.

Some time ago I came across a group on Facebook, called Luna Lapin Little World! One of the group members, Patricia Freeman, designed a pretty knitted jacket for Luna. 

I could not resist and Luna now has 2 new jackets, she is very pleased 😊

Despite weeks of hot dry weather, our garden is not in a bad shape, thanks to DH's patient watering and feeding.

Apparently the hot weather is coming back; it looks like, again, the sewing room might not be the best place to be. 😞

Luna has a dress! - FNwF

First of all - big thank you to Cheryll for hosting another Friday night gathering - the first one this year!

What was I up to?

I was putting some finishing touches to Luna's new dress, and her new French knickers.

(if you don't know who Luna is, see my previous post)

The pattern and the pretty fabric for Luna's dress was a part of the original Luna's kit.

I found a piece of old lace in my stash, just right to make her some knickers.

Here she is, modelling them;

they are just roomy enough to accommodate her fluffy tail.

The dress has some pretty details, like a detachable bow and tiny buttons on the back. 

I must admit that I struggled little stitching these tiny pieces using the machine; I was very tempted to stitch by hand. But I did not give up, I just need to practise 😉 

Machine stitching gives it more professional look, and of course it makes the stitches stronger. 

Luna is very pleased with new outfit.

But of course, I can't let her go out just yet, not in this cold. 

She will need a coat and some boots too.

 And  I suspect, that she would like a friend (or two).................

Luna Lapin - the first finished project this year!

The 1st of January was a horrid day, dark and wet, it rained all day. Ideal day for stitching! 😊

So we put away all things "Christmas" and I spent the day making Luna.

You might have seen this special rabbit at the shows; she was created by Sarah Peel from "Cool Crafting" . 

Luna Lapin is no ordinary rabbit, she is a rabbit with French flair; she is very "arty" and she likes to dress well. 

To quote from the introduction to the lovely book "Making Luna Lapin" :

"Luna has been made and loved by many, many people around the world, especially in the UK. She isn't regarded as a toy; she is more of a heirloom piece, or an indulgence for all of us who are still children at heart."

The book is not just a pattern book, but also stories about Luna.

This is my Luna; I hope she will like her new home.

She is all hand stitched.

Now I will have to get her dressed!
