Happy Midsummer!

It is hard to believe, that it is Midsummer;
today at last is a lovely day, but June has been a really bad month in our part of the world;
there were days when we had our heating on, and even last night the temperature was down to 6C.
Looking at the forecast, may be this is a start of our summer at last!
 I am amazed that anything is flowering in our garden, but the nature can't be stopped and plants adapt.

Several small blocks make up one long block for Awakening quilt.
This was a good exercise in applique points!

Awakening - quick update - block 4

Another 2 small heart block join the one shown previously,

and the set of 3 hearts blocks is now joined to the main flower part.

So now I have 4 main blocks finished. I am not actually making them in the right order, but rather which one I feel like making next.
I have gone slightly "of piste" with this one, there should be another angel here, but I prefer a couple of hearts instead. There is lots more angels yet to come !

FnwF

 It was that time again, to get together at Cheryll's for another FnwF, and I was all set.
Unfortunately in the end I could not join the others, as I had some technical issues with my emails, which needed to be sorted out.
I have been using Windows Live Mail for years, but Microsoft stopped supporting the software last year. I just carried on using it anyway (simply because I was afraid of doing anything else!), but the software just refused to do anything last night, so I realised it was obviously the time to be brave (as I am not technically minded, so you can see my point) and take the plunge.

I decided to download Mailbird, as this one seems to have good reviews. All well and good, I even managed to receive some emails, but I just could not get the setting right to be able to sent out.
Also, Mailbird doesn't synchronise with WLM, so I had re-input all my contacts into Mailbird manually.  A couple of hours and a huge headache later I gave up trying - best to sleep on it 😕 .
Another day and today I found out where I was going wrong last night. Some test emails sent out and all seems to be well now 😀

But I did some crochet yesterday afternoon
and I completed row 5 of the Arabian Nights blanket.

I like how each motif is joined to the rest straightaway,
which cuts out that lengthy job later on.

I will come and see what the others were up to later on.
Enjoy your weekend!

morning's walk

Today was one of those mornings you just want to "dawdle", nice and bright, and pleasantly warm;
we took a longer route to the shops, via the old parts of Shepton.
I was looking at other people's gardens, for a change.

Later, back in my own garden, I made a small Awakening block.

We are expecting bad weather tomorrow, coming from France.......😒

Monday, 3 June 2019

It's not a nice Monday out there, cooler with showers, although the weekend wasn't bad at all, in fact Saturday was positively a proper summer day.

I spent a lazy afternoon outside, reading and working on the next block of "Awakening",
flowers are a welcome break from angels 😀

David Austin's climbing rose, the "Crown Princess Margareta",
last years's addition to our garden, has come out at last.
