At last we have been having something which could be called summer weather
and our garden is loving it.
I have been spending lots of time here, so not much time in front of small screens,
but is is time for a little catch up.
Janie Crow's "Sunshine an Showers" blanket, now CAL,

There are also monthly YouTube videos, with the introduction one by Jane here .
Some days had been too warm for woolly stuff,
but mostly it is OK.
I am enjoying it so much that I am well ahead of CAL.
It is nice to crochet in rows for a change, instead of squares.
The blanket is made in sections, below are the two end pieces.
The weather here is also mixture of sunshine and light showers at the moment, so that hasn't been too bad for this year's Glastonbury Festival , the first one since 2019, which is just down the road from us,
in fact so close that we can here the music in the evenings,
(not well enough to enjoy it, of course!)
I just leave you with some pictures from our garden.
This is "Gabriel Oak" from Davis Austin,
named after the character in Thomas Hardy's novel
"Far from the Madding Crowd".
It is a beautiful one, with very strong old fashion rose scent.
We are growing it in a pot, close to the bench, it seems to be very happy, and we can enjoy it too.
"No room at the inn" - see below, which I am very pleased about; I have been accused recently not caring enough about wildlife. Considering that we planted some eight trees (and put up nesting boxes) in this tiny garden since we moved in and looking around here we are the only ones doing so, for some reason not many people like trees in their gardens here.
We encouraged a hedgehog to our garden by building him a super home, so that remark was hurtful and did come as a disappointment.
Our little and simple celebration of Midsummer (a habit we picked up from our Scandinavia friends) was also a success,
because it usually rains, but this time it turned out to be perfect summer evening.

You have a beautiful garden. Like you I prefer to work with wool for my crochet, there is something a little more comforting about the weight of it in your lap.
ReplyDeleteOh, I want to be a hedgehog and live in your garden and sit under the shade of the many beautiful clematis, and drink in the perfumes of your happy roses. Love the thought of a "no room at the inn" garden because if I was a hedgehog I would be hidden from those naysayers. =) Love too, that you are squeezed in some trees. Balderdash.....to the thought that your garden does not care for wildlife??!! It is a little slice of heaven, where many critters could joy in the beauty. Your garden is truly delightful, Radka♡ I am a bit pea green that you have a little hedgehog......how wonderfully divine. As for your crochet blanket; it is singing with bright and happy sunshine. ReplyDeleteYour garden looks gorgeous Radka - as always. Isn't it strange that people are more likely to take down a tree than plant one. People would sit on our terrasse in France and say ' I would take that tree down if I were you as it spoils the view'! Not many trees around here either, but we have plans for the autumn to plant at least one in our garden. I would have thought your garden was perfect for wild life, we would love to encourage a hedgehog.

That was a hurtful comment about wildlife, your garden is a heaven for butterflies and bees and all kinds of your inn residents, and I hope the hedgehog will have a big family. I always admire your garden photos, such an abundance of everything.

We are in the middle of a heat wave, over 30 degrees temperatures for several days, so your header photo came like a cool, refreshing breath of air.
I hope it has cooled down where you are. The header photo is from one of our many holidays in Sweden, it always reminds me on those wonderful summers in Scandinavia. Thank you for stopping by!
