"Arabian Nights" crochet blanket - all done

Another finish! Hurrah! 

So here it is at last, design by Amanda Perkins, from her book Rainbow Crochet Blankets.

Long time in making, but I enjoyed making it, I love the colours, although I seemed to be always running out of yarn.
There are other blankets in the book which I would love to make.

FNwF

Thank you again to Cheryll, who got us together again for a second FNwF this month; how that week flew by!

I wasn't doing anything exciting; I concentrated this week on finishing Arabian Nights blanket, and now it is only the tassels which need to be attached, so I spend the evening crocheting the last of them. I hope to finish the whole blanket by tomorrow.

The only other thing I picked up this weekend for sewing outside (the sunny weather still continues, although cooler today), is this linen table runner, which I bought what seems a long time ago, in the depth of winter, when the world was still "normal".

The design is a copy of Swedish design from 1960's.

At last a project I can use my linen threads for, which I bought years ago in Sweden.

This beautiful clematis is coming through from next door, isn't it a beauty? I think we see more of it than they do!

And just some pictures from our walk last week; we are fortunate that we don't need to walk far to be out of town; this is a walk along what used to a railway track.

despite of everything......

The sun is shining, the apple blossom is coming out.....

the Easter bread for the whole family is made - although the logistics of delivery is more complicated this year,

 and Easter decorations are out too.....

FNwF - Korak finish

Big Thank You to Cheryll for getting us together again for Friday night crafting! 

And we will get to do that all over again next Friday, thanks Cheryll for getting us organised. 

I was putting finishing touches to my Korak sampler. If you don't know what Korak is, you can scroll down to one of the previous post to read about it.

Koraks were not made into quilts as we understand; it is thought that they were used to decorate the walls of the nomad's huts, pressed in before the mud walls dried; 

some of the Koraks were found to have remains of mud on them. 

But I decided to make my one into a small quilt/ wall hanging for fear that otherwise it will just end in one my draws. So I sandwiched it and backed it, and joined all with just few quick quilting stitches, adding some embellishments.

There is one thing about having to spend so much time indoors, you get to do jobs which have been "on the list"  for some time.

So DH decided to re-paint our dining area, so I spent a big part of my week emptying the dresser and cupboards, and putting it all back when he finished... you know the drill.........

Luckily we already had the paint at home, which was good, given the current problem with shopping.

I use one of the walls here to display my quilts,

so all change.........

this is the one on the wall now:

it was Quiltmania's BOM in 2017.

The patterns for the blocks was taken from this book. 

I remember really enjoying making this quilt, so I think it would be fun to make another one, again using blocks from the same book.

I just need to decide from which section, but it will be applique;

flowers, baskets or houses; yes the choice is out of 2001 blocks!

It is a great project for diving into a stash!

It is promising to be beautiful Sunday here, may be even some stitching in the garden!

I have 24 crochet tassels to make for Arabian Nights blanket.

just small steps

Hello, all you lovely people, how are you coping ?

Personally, I am starting to loose sense of time; outside, the spring is slowly coming in, after a period of
warm and sunny days, this week has been cold again, with north winds and frosty nights.

There is not much to do in our tiny garden, too small for any serious work, with lots of pots. Several new plants have arrived by post, and more to come, so just planting those out.

Our daily routine has changed; we no longer go shopping for food, being the age we are, our children have been very insistent that we should avoid supermarkets, and instead they are doing our food shopping for us, dropping it off by the front door. But of course we worry about them doing it.

At the start of our isolating I was concerned that the days will turn out to be very long, but instead they seem to fly by. Admittedly, we tend to get up later in the morning; I make bread and whatever else needs baking. We are fine, we eat well; we read and watch old DVDs; thankfully we both have hobbies, and occasionally venture out for a longish walk. We find that where we used to go for a quiet walk, people now drive to, to walk their dogs. The news are full of horrid statistics. But I am sure you know all that.

I was concentrating on the Arabian Nights blanket last week, but last weekend I found I was out of wool.

I ordered it online and it arrived the following day, so now I can crack on.

The Korak sampler is nearly finished, I need to decide what to do with it now.
